Cottonmouths, copperheads, coral snakes, and rattlesnakes all call Georgia their home. Snakes can be extremely dangerous. If you find one, tell an adult and walk away slowly. These snakes are venomous so they inject venom when they bite. Sometimes you will get lucky and get a dry bite. No matter what it will still hurt if you get bitten. Snakes are also helpful because they feed on smaller mammals and keep the environment balanced. You can go many places to see these snakes. Such as, the Stephen C. Foster wildlife refuge. You can look under tin in the woods, on the side of the road or find snakes under the road also. Snakes are abundant almost everywhere in warm weather. you may want to watch where you step in the woods, because, one we have destroyed much of their habitat, and two they usually attack when provoked.
